Sarah Dessen is the author of thirteen novels, which include the New York Times bestsellers The Moon and More, What Happened to Goodbye, Along for the Ride, Lock and Key, Just Listen, The Truth About Forever, and This Lullaby. Her first two books, That Summer and Someone Like You, were made into the movie How to Deal/5(). Overall I think that Just Listen is a good book, but maybe for younger or less advanced readers.(Again, this is just me stating my opinion and I am not trying to be rude, and I have read very advanced material, so it may be normal for me to feel this way.) It has its pros and cons just like any other book, and everyone is entitled to their own /5(). Just Listen is a brilliant toolbox loaded with valuable lessons and examples for making meaningful connections with virtually anyone. Dr. Goulston seems to come from a real place of deep caring for others as he empowers the reader to truly make a difference in their own life and the lives of others- one conversation at a time/5(). "Just Listen" is an outstanding, practical how-to guide for becoming a better face-to-face communicator. As a professional communicator, I often find it easier to write for an amorphous, anonymous large audience, or speak in front of a large room, rather than work one on one with people who are resistant or difficult/5.
Thanks to author Sara Dessen's exquisite attention to detail, each moment in Just Listen is rendered so clearly and vividly that readers can easily enter Annabel's world: her misery at school and home, her inability to deal forthrightly with any of her problems, and her developing relationship with troubled outcast Owen. The characters are equally vivid, especially menacing Owen, with his bizarre 4/5. Just Listen Summary. " Just Listen is a banquet of approaches and ideas that's easy to devour the first time around, and a flavorful feast whenever you use portions as a reference book. It's certainly one of the best how-to books of the year." - Inland Empire Business Journal" Just Listen /5(). Sarah Dessen is the author of thirteen novels, which include the New York Times bestsellers The Moon and More, What Happened to Goodbye, Along for the Ride, Lock and Key, Just Listen, The Truth About Forever, and This Lullaby. Her first two books, That Summer and Someone Like You, were made into the movie How to Deal/5(K). Just Listen is the first book I have read by this author. Written from the aspect of someone suffering from depression it centres around Jack. Jack struggles with his illness on a daily/hourly basis/5. So like The Truth About Forever, my last book, Just Listen has a lot going on. There’s modeling, music, family dynamics, and even bacon. It also brings back a few people those of you who have read my other books might recognize, and I hope will be happy to see again. No writing process is ever easy, and this book took a lot out of me.
